Each spring, the Virginia Renaissance Faire brings medieval history to life at Lake Anna Winery in Spotsylvania County. From mid-May through mid-June, visitors can enjoy jousting, costumed performers, artisan crafts, and delicious food as they immerse themselves in a world of kings and queens, brave knights and fair maidens. But when thou hast bid farewell to the faire, tarry not in haste, for many a wonder yet doth await in neighboring Louisa County.
We’re just a hop, skip and a bridge away.
We encourage visitors to take a short drive over the Route 208 bridge into Louisa County to explore our charming small towns and scenic countryside. A brief but beautiful seven-minute drive from the Faire, you’ll find dining and entertainment options that make for the perfect complement to your Renaissance adventure.
Dine like royalty in Louisa County.
If turkey legs aren’t your thing, why not treat yourself to a delicious meal at a Louisa County restaurant after the faire? Options include fine dining at The Lion’s Den in Mineral (which can trace its historic roots back to the 1830s), Callie Opie’s Orchard (a farm to table restaurant), and Obrigado Restaurant (a mix of Mediterranean & Southern food). For more casual fare, there’s Vito’s On The Lake, the Asian Cafe, Tasty Crab Seafood & Noodle Restaurant, the Lake Anna Taphouse, Tim’s at Lake Anna, Smokin Eddie’s BBQ and Country Boys BBQ.
They’ve got mead, we’ve got wines, ciders and beers.
If you’re looking for a unique way to unwind after a day at the Faire, consider exploring the Fermentation Farm Trail. This local trail features some of the area’s best craft beverage spots, including Coyote Hole Ciderworks, Southern Revere Cellars, Cooling Pond Brewery, and Fifty-Third Winery and Vineyard. Sample local wines, ciders, and brews while enjoying the scenic beauty of Louisa County.
Because the Faire takes place at the Lake Anna Winery, be sure to also check out their tasting room. From reds to whites to sweet wines, the Lake Anna Winey has a wine for every palate.
Get on the Water and Explore
For those who want to extend their Renaissance adventure, Lake Anna offers plenty of opportunities for fun on the water. Rent a boat from LKA Watersports or MidAtlantic Watersports. Book a guided excursion with SunShine Swan Boat Excursions or McCotter’s Lake Anna Guide Service. Whether you prefer a leisurely cruise, action-packed watersports, or a late afternoon of angling, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
