Make Your First Stop the Louisa County Museum & Visitor Information Center

While trip planning online and through an app can be incredibly helpful, sometimes nothing beats getting recommendations, directions, and insider tips from a real person. That’s exactly what you’ll find at the Louisa County Museum & Visitor Information Center. Located at 214 Fredericksburg Avenue, Louisa, VA 23093 in the heart of Louisa County and within the Town of Louisa, the Museum & Visitor Information Center is staffed by certified Louisa County Tourism Ambassadors who are ready to help connect visitors with attractions, dining, events, outdoor recreation, and many of the county’s historic sites. Whether you are looking for hidden gems, family activities, wineries, rail excursions, local shops, or historical landmarks, knowledgeable staff can help point you in the right direction during hours of operation Tuesday through Saturday.

The Museum & Visitor Information Center is alongside two other cultural and historic destinations: the Town of Louisa Town Hall (housed in a historic school building) and the Louisa Arts Center. Along with a town park, the campus offers a convenient and enriching place to begin your visit.

Visitors can also pick up brochures highlighting attractions and events, browse a digital kiosk featuring up to date information from around the county, and grab a Louisa County map that showcases the county’s communities and destinations.

Of course, the center offers much more than visitor resources alone. Operated by the Louisa County Historical Society, the Museum & Visitor Information Center is also known as The Sargeant Museum of Louisa County History. This gives visitors the unique opportunity to gather local travel information while discovering the stories, people, and places that shaped the county. As The Sargeant Museum of Louisa County History, it also features engaging exhibits that bring Louisa County’s past to life. From local heritage to historical artifacts and stories, the museum provides visitors and residents alike with an opportunity to learn something new about the county’s rich history.

Whether you are visiting Louisa County for the first time, returning to discover something new, or simply looking for current happenings around the area, the Louisa County Museum & Visitor Information Center offers a welcoming place to start your journey. Stop in, explore the exhibits, talk with a Louisa County Tourism Ambassador, and discover what makes Louisa County special.
