The Virginia 250 Passport: Get Your Stamp in Louisa County

A brand-new way to explore Virginia’s rich and diverse history has just launched, and Louisa County is proud to be part of it! The Virginia 250 Passport and its 70 participating historic destinations invite residents and visitors to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary through an unforgettable statewide journey.

How the Passport Works

As of November 11, 2025, the free Virginia 250 Passports can be picked up at signature sites across the state, including:

  • Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC) in Richmond
  • Colonial Williamsburg
  • Mount Vernon
  • Monticello
  • Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation’s Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown
  • The VA250 Mobile Museum
  • All 12 Virginia Welcome Centers along major interstates

A total of 250,000 Passports will be distributed. Each of these Passports will serve as a:

  • Travel Guide – with a 64-page booklet highlighting 70 museums and historic sites across five Virginia regions
  • Discount Book – after collecting a stamp at a participating location, travelers can receive up to 15% off admission at future participating locations
  • Chance to Win Prizes – after collecting five or more stamps, travelers may enter the statewide prize drawing in December 2026. Rewards include yearlong museum memberships and cash prizes of up to $2,500

Get Your Louisa County Stamp

Louisa County’s own Louisa County Historical Society is proud to be listed among the Central Virginia Passport destinations. Visitors can collect their Passport stamp at the Sargeant Museum of Louisa County History while discovering stories about the people who built Louisa into the vibrant county it is today, including stories from early settlement, the Civil War, and railroad development. Whether you are a resident exploring your own backyard or a traveler discovering Virginia’s historic heartland, Louisa offers a welcoming stop along your Passport journey. The Sargeant Museum of Louisa County History is located at 214 Fredericksburg Avenue, Louisa, VA 23093 and is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.

A collaboration between some of Virginia’s most respected historic institutions – the Virginia Museum of History & Culture (VMHC), Colonial Williamsburg, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, and Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello – this program is supported by the Virginia American Revolution 250 Commission (VA250) and the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC).
